Stone Carving and Letter Cutting by Carrie Horwood.
Visit Cats Eye Carving for an opportunity to meet a skilled craftsman. I have over ten years combined training and experience.
The cats eye is my masons mark, and can be found all over Gloucester Cathedral, where I did my stonemasonry apprenticeship.
Before my apprenticeship, I did a degree in sculpture in Canterbury - where I am originally from.
I use both these disciplines to create unique stone sculptures including bird baths, water features, figurative and abstract carving.
I take commissions for house names and numbers and I am happy to talk through any ideas a customer may have for a sculpture.
I use sandstone from the Forest of Dean, limestone from various quarries around Gloucestershire and Cornish slate.
You are always welcome in my workshop, to watch me carving and ask me any questions you may have.
I am open Tuesday - Sunday every week and am also open on Bank Holiday Mondays.
If you are planning to come to see me specifically, it would be advisable to phone or email ahead to avoid disappointment as I may be off site on the day you wish to call.
